Trial Adoption

Terms & Conditions

  • The trial adoption period is four weeks. At the end of the trial period you can either return the cat, adopt the cat, or talk to us about extending your trial adoption.

  • You will pay the adoption fee that is only refundable if the cat or kitten is returned to us safe and uninjured.

  • Your kitten remains under the management of Outpawed until the adoption is finalised. You may choose to finalise the adoption before the four-week trial period has concluded.

  • If you choose to proceed with adoption, you will need to complete the adoption paperwork to complete ownership transfer. You understand that you may request a copy of the adoption terms and conditions prior to accepting this agreement or at any time during the trial adoption.

  • Outpawed will supply cat/kitten food for the duration of the trial period.

  • Outpawed will supply any necessary flea and worm treatments. You will need to let us know when you require a treatment and arrange to collect it from us.

  • Outpawed will provide any required vet treatment during the trial period. You must notify the adoption coordinator in your area as soon as possible after the cat/kitten becomes unwell. We will arrange for the cat/kitten to visit our vet and will cover the cost. If you decide to use an alternative vet, you may not be reimbursed.

  • Outpawed will be responsible for all medical decisions for the cat/kitten during the trial period.

  • During the trial period, the cat/kitten should not be allowed outside.

  • Prior to adoption, the cat/kitten may not be relocated or placed with any other individuals without the permission of Outpawed.

  • You may at any time decide to terminate your trial adoption by notifying Outpawed of your decision. In this case, you will need to arrange for the prompt return of your cat/kitten to the adoption coordinator or foster home.

  • Outpawed may terminate your trial adoption at any stage. In this case you will be required to return the cat as soon as possible.

  • You understand that the cat may have been homeless prior to coming into the care of Outpawed and may have been in poor condition on intake. You acknowledge that Outpawed has provided you with any information relevant to the health of this cat. You understand that Outpawed cannot guarantee the long-term health of this cat.

  • Outpawed provides post-adoption support. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask.

  • You must notify Outpawed immediately if a cat or kitten goes missing while under your care.
